Option 1 - Export to 3DS then import it back.
Option 2 - Select all polygons > detach. Then select a new object that you just create and do an auto soomth.
Option 3 - Adding Editable Mesh or Editable Poly modify then do an auto smooth.
These are not a perfect solution but it works for me most of times.
